Dear Visitor, we inform you that on the day of Thursday 22 June, the Manet Exhibition will be closed from 5.30 pm onwards. The ticket office will close one hour before, at 4.30 pm.
The exhibition aims to tell the artistic career of the great Master (1832-1883) who, in just over two decades of intense activity, produced 430 paintings, two thirds of them are copies, sketches, minor works and unfinished operas. A corpus in itself at all extended, but able to revolutionize the concept of modern art. A story, his own, which intertwines with that of other famous artists, many of them companions in life and work, goers with him of coffee bars, studies, summer residences, theaters.
The works on display come from the prestigious collection of the Musée d'Orsay in Paris: one hundred works, including 55 paintings - 17 of them masterpieces by Manet and 40 other beautiful works of great contemporary masters such as Boldini, Cezanne, Degas, Fantin-Latour, Gauguin, Monet, Berthe Morisot, Renoir, Signac, Tissot. To the works on canvas are added 10 drawings and watercolors by Manet, twenty drawings of other artists and seven maquettes and sculptures.
Reinterprets the concept of the famous wave of Hokusai, take a picture and post it on Instagram: a jury will select the most original and will award it. Visit the page and read the rules to know all the details.
